Abstract

Analysis of Mangrove Vegetation Distribution and Density in Langsa City

Abstract. Mangrove forest monitoring is necessary to measure growth rates and identify areas that require improvement. Mangrove distribution and density can give an indication of the environmental quality of the area. By monitoring the distribution and density of Mangroves, it can be known whether the Mangrove ecosystem is in a healthy condition or experiencing environmental disturbances, this is important in identifying environmental problems and formulating appropriate management measures. The level of Mangrove vegetation density generated from Landsat 8 image processing with the FCD method produces three classes of vegetation density levels, namely, no vegetation cover, low vegetation, and moderate vegetation with a total Mangrove distribution area in Langsa City of 4,588.39 ha, low vegetation being the largest with a total area of 4,346.52 ha.
