Abstract

Canine impaction is a one of the common phenomenon in dental practice. This research aims to classify impacted canine teeth based on panoramic radiographs taken in RSGM USK from March 2021 to December 2022. Using a retrospective descriptive method, data from 1,081 radiographs were analyzed, revealing 4.8% maxillary canine impactions, 0.9% mandibular canine impactions, and 94.3% without canine impaction. Maxillary canine impaction correlated with lesions in 12.9% of cases, more prevalent in females 61.5% and 38.5% occurring in males, while mandibular canine impaction occurred in 40% of males and 60% of females. The majority of maxillary impactions 84.6% were unilateral, with 45.0% on the right and 55.0% on the left. According to Yamamoto's classification, maxillary canine impaction types were as follows: Type I (13.3%), Type II (48.3%), Type III (3.3%), Type IV (20.0%), Type V (1.7%), Type VI (8.4%), and Type VII (5.0%). Mandibular canine impaction classification, according to Mupparapu, included Type 1 (60.0%), Type 2 (10.0%), Type 3 (10.0%), and Type 5 (10.0%). No cases were classified under Type 4. Yavuz's classification for mandibular canine impaction indicated Level A (20.0%), Level B (40.0%), and Level C (40.0%).
