Perbedaan pH Saliva Sebelum dan Sesudah Mengkonsumsi Susu Formula Dengan Susu UHT (Studi pada Anak di Panti Asuhan Nirmala Banda Aceh)

One of the problems of oral health that often occurs in children is dental caries. The risk of caries can detected by analyzing saliva. Saliva is a liquid with an array of highly volatile and can be analyzed acidity (pH), the composition of electrolytes and proteins contained. Thirdly things influenced by psychological state, stimulus, hormone levels, gestures, medicines and diet. Salivary pH value will change after food consumtion. Diet that can affected the saliva pH value is milk. Milk contains so many nutrients that are needed by the body. Milk is divided into several types, any of that is formula milk and UHT (Ultra High Temperature) milk. Formula milk contains 7 g fats, 5 g proteins, and 14 g carbohydrates. UHT milk contains 7 g fats, 7 g proteins, and 13 g carbohydrates.  Perpose of this study is to know the difference salivary pH value before and after consuming milk formula with UHT milk to children at Orphanage Nirmala Banda Aceh. This study uses a quasi-experimental method with randomized clinical control group pretest-posttest design. The number of subjects in this study were 27 people consisting of three groups:  two groups were given different treatment, and one control group. Each group has 9 subjects. Salivary pH measurements using a digital pH meter. The data analysis using One-Way ANOVA (p<0.05) mean there are a significant difference between groups. Salivary pH value of formula milk group decrease about 1,4 and UHT milk group increase 1,3. The conclusion is results of this there are differences salivary pH value before and 10 minutes after children consuming formula milk and UHT milk.
